We have used Erie Street Cemetery on many occasions for our tours. The history of the cemetery and its location seem to be of great interest to our guests, and it truly is a great place to end a ghost tour.

We usually set our guests loose with dowsing rods to do a little ghost hunting of their own and have found that for a lot of people, when their dowsing rods are active and a picture is taken of their hands, there is an orb above their hands. However, on one occasion, we actually had a face appear behind a woman.

On one of our earlier tours, we had a young lady take a set of dowsing rods to use in the cemetery, and as she was walking with them, the copper rods actually bent backward toward her. I had never seen that happen before, and I must say it made me a little nervous. We gave her another set, and this set did the same thing, so either a spirit wanted to give her a very important message or she just has a magnetic personality.

Another popular thing our guests have been doing is downloading a ghost app to their phones. We had one guest do this on a day tour, and when the app started to talk, it said, “Lizzy, Lizzy.” She happened to be standing by a headstone, and the only legible thing on the stone was the name Elizabeth.

Erie Street Cemetery is a very peaceful place to while away some time, but visitors should know that there is a sign stating that the cemetery closes at 6:00 p.m.
